MileLog

MileLog is the HMRC mileage logbook built for UK sole traders, limited company directors, and self-employed professionals who want one thing: a clean, accurate, HMRC-compliant mileage record with zero fuss. Log a trip in 30 seconds. Export to your accountant. --- WHY MILELOG IS DIFFERENT --- Every other mileage app wants your location, your email address, and £5.99 a month. MileLog wants none of those things. It costs £1.99 once — and then it's yours. No GPS. No location permission. Ever. No account. No login. No cloud. No subscription. No renewal. No price hikes. No ads. Not now, not in an update, not ever. Your data lives on your phone. Nobody else sees it. --- BUILT AROUND HMRC RULES --- MileLog has the Approved Mileage Allowance Payment (AMAP) rates pre-loaded and locked in: Cars and vans: 45p per mile (first 10,000 miles) 25p per mile (above 10,000 miles) Motorcycles: 24p per mile Bicycles: 20p per mile The 10,000-mile threshold switches automatically mid-year. You never touch a rate. You never miscalculate. The tax year runs April 6 to April 5 — exactly as HMRC requires. The home screen shows your running deduction total in large amber figures, with a progress bar across the tax year so you always know where you stand. --- LOGGING A TRIP --- Five fields. Instant save. Date — auto-filled to today From — type or pick a saved location To — type or pick a saved location Miles — enter the distance Purpose — brief note for HMRC records Toggle business or personal. That's it. Saved locations mean frequent trips (home, office, client site) take two taps after the first entry. --- MULTIPLE VEHICLES --- Run separate logbooks for each vehicle. Car, van, company vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle — each gets its own rate and its own running total. --- EXPORT --- PDF export generates a properly formatted HMRC mileage log: tabular layout, vehicle details, tax year header, total miles, total deduction, and a self-certification signature line at the bottom. Ready to hand to your accountant or keep on file for five years (as HMRC recommends). CSV export sends your trip data to any accounting software or spreadsheet. --- MAKING TAX DIGITAL --- With MTD for Income Tax rolling out from April 2026, keeping accurate digital records from the start of the tax year matters more than ever. MileLog keeps your mileage records in a clean, exportable format from day one. --- PRIVACY --- MileLog requests zero permissions. No location. No contacts. No camera. No microphone. No network access. All data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage only. There is nothing to sign up for. There is no server. There is no account recovery — and there never needs to be, because we never hold your data. --- WEEKLY REMINDERS --- Optional notification on the day of your choice. A gentle nudge to log any trips you might have forgotten. No other notifications, ever. --- WHAT MILELOG DOES NOT DO --- It does not track your location. It does not connect to the internet. It does not sync to the cloud. It does not integrate with your bank. It does not file your tax return. It logs your mileage accurately, applies the right HMRC rate, and produces a document your accountant recognises. That's the job. That's all it does. One purchase. Your logbook. Forever.
