Sung is a singing practice app that listens. Sing, and it draws the pitch you are making against the note you were aiming for, so you can see it land — or drift — and then it tells you why, and what to practise next. KNOW WHY A NOTE WAS OFF After every rep, Sung reads your pitch line and names what pulled the note off: sliding up into it, going flat as the breath runs out, a wobbly hold, overshooting a leap, singing sharp all the way through. Each comes with one thing to try and the drill that trains it. No guesswork, no jargon. SEE THE NOTE YOU ARE SINGING Your voice is drawn live on a piano roll, over the notes of the drill. A meter above it shows how many cents sharp or flat you are and which way to move. Every note is scored as you sing it, so a session tells you something you can act on. A SESSION THAT FITS THE DAY Say how long you have and how the voice feels. Sung builds the session: a warm-up first, then pitch, agility, sustain or range work, then a cool-down. Say the voice is tired and the session gets shorter and gentler; say it is sore and you get hums and lip trills only. DRILLS A TEACHER WOULD GIVE YOU Five-tone scales, arpeggios, sirens, lip trills, octave leaps, held notes. Scoring follows the centre of each note, so a natural vibrato counts as in tune, and detection reaches down to C2 for low voices. Sung plays each pattern first on a piano — or sings it, if you prefer — counts you in, then falls quiet and listens. • A soft click on every beat, and a line crossing the screen so you come in on time • Blind reps that hide the display and ask you to rate yourself, to build the ear • The key climbs a semitone after every good rep, the way a lesson does • Tempo per drill, so agility work can start slow YOUR RANGE, MEASURED A short, quiet test finds your comfortable range and sets a goal a whole tone higher, with a daily session to get there. Every session that reaches further moves the line. Progress shows the range week by week, your score by drill family and the notes where the voice gets shaky, and a card lets you share how far your range has come. HEAR YOURSELF BACK Every session is recorded on the phone. Play your first take of a drill beside your latest, play a rep back against the note you were aiming for, loop a single note, star the takes worth keeping, and keep a monthly voice journal to hear the year change. IS IT MY EAR OR MY VOICE? A two-minute hearing check tells you whether a note you keep missing is one you cannot hear or one you cannot yet sing. Most people are surprised.
