// Review complaints
Find your next app idea in 1-star reviews
Thousands of bad reviews, one minute to read. AppHitlist groups them by topic, so you see what the paying users of a successful app keep running into.
// WHAT IT IS
AppHitlist turns 1- and 2-star reviews into complaint themes: reviews grouped by topic, each with a count. When an app that already earns money has a loud, repeated complaint, that is a gap you can fill with a better app. For your own apps, competitors and watchlist, AppHitlist also groups feature requests, so you see what users want next.
// WHAT YOU GET
What you can do once you can see the data
Skip the reading, keep the pattern
Each app gets a list of complaint topics with the number of reviews behind each. See the top three problems in a minute instead of reading hundreds of reviews.
Find gaps inside apps that already earn
A complaint about an app people pay for is a better lead than one about a dead app. Read the themes next to the app's revenue estimate and rank history.
Learn what users ask your competitors for
Feature requests are grouped for your own apps, competitors and watchlist. You see what is missing before you plan your next release.
Compare apps side by side
Add up to two more apps and read their top complaints and requests next to each other. A complaint shared across rivals points to an open niche.
// HOW IT WORKS
From first search to a decision in three steps
- 01
Pick an app
Open Review Analytics and choose one of your apps, a competitor, a watchlist app or a favorite, or search the catalog by name.
- 02
Read the complaint themes
Read the Complaints list and its review counts. Then open the latest reviews, filtered to 1 or 2 stars, and read the real wording.
- 03
Compare and decide
Add up to two more apps to the comparison. Write down the complaint that keeps coming up and ask whether you can solve it better.
// WHO IT IS FOR
Built for people who ship small apps and need to choose well
Developers hunting for an idea
Start from what users already pay for and hate, instead of starting from a blank page.
Owners improving their own app
See the complaints and requests in your own reviews, grouped, so the next update fixes what hurts most.
Founders sizing up a rival
Find where a strong competitor lets users down, such as billing, price or a missing feature. That is where you can win.
// GOOD TO KNOW
What to keep in mind before you rely on it
Themes are grouped automatically from 1- and 2-star reviews, so they lean negative and can sometimes lump different complaints together. A loud complaint is not proof that many users care. Topics appear once new low-star reviews are analyzed, so a new app may have none yet. Feature requests exist only for your own apps, competitors and watchlist. Review analysis is part of the paid plan and covers the iOS App Store only.

Questions people ask before they start
How do I find app ideas from bad reviews?
Pick an app that already earns money, open its complaint themes and look for a problem that repeats. If many users hit the same wall, a simpler or fairer app can win them over. Check the app's revenue estimate and rank history first, so you know the audience is real.
What are complaint themes?
They are groups of 1- and 2-star reviews that complain about the same thing, such as billing, price, bugs or a missing feature. AppHitlist shows each group with its review count, so you see which problem is biggest without reading every review. You can open the real reviews behind any group.
Can I see what users want from a competitor's app?
Yes. Add the competitor under Competitors or put the app on your watchlist, then pick it in Review Analytics. AppHitlist groups its feature requests next to its complaints, with a review count for each topic. You see what its users ask for before you plan your own version.
How reliable are the complaint themes?
Good enough to spot a pattern, not a poll. Themes are grouped automatically from 1- and 2-star reviews, so they lean negative and can lump similar complaints together. A loud complaint does not prove many users care. Open the real reviews behind a theme and check the wording before you build on it.
