// ALTERNATIVE

GetAppNiche alternative for indie developers

GetAppNiche and AppHitlist both sell App Store market data to solo developers. GetAppNiche is wider and deeper. AppHitlist is a smaller, iOS-only tool built around daily Apple charts.

// SUMMARY

// WHO IT FITS

Match the tool to the job, not the job to the tool

Choose GetAppNiche if

  • You need Google Play as well as the App Store. GetAppNiche counts about 3.6M+ apps across both stores.
  • You want daily keyword rank tracking on both stores, up to 500 keywords, with competitor keyword gaps.
  • You want to pull data into your own scripts or an AI assistant. Pro includes a REST API and a hosted MCP server (5,000 credits a month), plus CSV and JSON export.
  • You want ad intelligence beyond Meta: it lists Apple Search Ads competitors, creators and an Ad Spend tracker, with spend shown as estimates.
  • You like paying once. It offers a Lifetime plan at $299, described as a founding price for the first 100 seats.

Choose AppHitlist if

  • You build for iOS only and want a smaller product with fewer screens.
  • You want to spot new winners fast: the 'New but winning' filter shows apps released in the last six months that already made a revenue chart.
  • You want climbers and new entries from daily saved App Store charts, and an email when a followed app changes rank, ads or revenue estimate.
  • You want to browse a free account first, with app profile, rating, price and rank history. GetAppNiche's FAQ says it has no free trial.
  • You want Meta ads sorted by days live, longest-running first within each app.

The parts a table cannot show

01

Price: one plan, three ways to pay

GetAppNiche sells one Pro feature set in three billing options: $39 a month, $249 a year, or $299 once as a Lifetime seat. Its pricing page says yearly saves $219 against twelve monthly payments. Its account and billing doc states a $120 yearly saving instead, so confirm the number at checkout.

It also says there is no free trial and that Yearly has a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment. Monthly and Lifetime refunds are handled case by case. Team invitations are disabled, so one account is one seat.

AppHitlist has a free account and one paid plan, billed monthly or yearly, which you can cancel from the account page. The price is on its pricing page. We do not claim it is cheaper: compare the two pages against what you need.

02

How the data is built

GetAppNiche says it collects public App Store and Google Play listings on its own infrastructure and refreshes the catalog every day. Estimates come from a proprietary model, and it separates observed store facts from modeled numbers. A blank metric means not enough evidence, and a zero is not proof of no revenue.

AppHitlist saves the public Apple chart lists every day and estimates revenue and downloads from them with its own algorithm. The figures can be wrong. GetAppNiche's keyword scores are also heuristics, which it says are not Apple Search Ads popularity or search volume.

03

A first week of niche research with each tool

With GetAppNiche you start from its Explore filters (the homepage says 30+) by category, revenue, ratings and growth, then use the keyword explorer and Hot Ideas to size a niche. If you use an AI assistant, the MCP server can do part of that for you.

With AppHitlist you start in Discover with a genre and release-date filter, open the app page for rank history and Meta ads, then read the complaint themes to see what users miss. Both paths end in the same place: check the reviews yourself before you commit to building.

// FAQ

Questions people ask before they start

How much does GetAppNiche cost?

As listed on its pricing page in October 2026, GetAppNiche Pro is $39 per month, $249 per year ($20.75 a month) or $299 one time for Lifetime. All three get the same features. AppHitlist is one paid plan, monthly or yearly; its price is on the AppHitlist pricing page, so compare both against what you need.

Is GetAppNiche free?

According to its FAQ there is no free trial, and plans start when you subscribe. It does offer free tools: an app revenue checker, a keyword checker and niche teasers, plus a free public app lookup. The refund policy says some plans may come with a trial but names none. AppHitlist offers a free account with rank history.

Does AppHitlist have an API like GetAppNiche?

No. AppHitlist works in the web app and has no API or MCP server at this time. GetAppNiche states that Pro includes a REST API and a hosted MCP server, with 5,000 credits a month shared between them and a limit of 60 requests per minute per key. If automation matters to you, that is a real reason to pick GetAppNiche.

Are GetAppNiche's revenue numbers exact?

No, and the company says so: it describes its revenue and download figures as directional estimates from its own model, not numbers published by Apple or Google. AppHitlist is the same in kind: its estimates come from its own algorithm over Apple's public chart lists and can be wrong. Use either one to compare niches, not to forecast income.
